For a lot of "services" that people, if they had to actually reach into their pockets and pay for it when rendered with actual cash, would balk at. If Government services were on the shelf of a store, the shelves would be stocked with tons of unsold, unsellable goods. The Govt tax and spend system is simply a money/wealth transfer system that none of us has any control over. It's like being forced to buy all your stuff at the monopolistic company ripoff/scam store at exorbitant prices or the local King in the castle confiscating all the nearby peasants wealth in exchange for "protection".
