When I corrected myself I said that nobody uses work except as a transition to power,

What sort of crap is this? "transition to power". Work is used all the time when talking about work. Power is used when talking about power.

Think of compressing a spring. There is well known equation for the force vs displacement, so you have an equation for the that. The energy put into compressing it is simply the integral of that force equation over distance. The rate at which you do it is totally irrelevant. You can spend a million years doing it or do it in 1 sec, and the work is the same. The power is many orders of magnitude different.

Stop confusing the two. Work and power are two totally separate things which are related by integrals and derivatives.
