I bet you might get some satisfaction from them. It's worth a try. Whenever I do that type of thing I always start out by saying "I know you didn't personally make the unit and I know nobody ever sells something with the intention of it breaking down - But...."

It takes the person on the phone off the defensive because they're so used to getting yelled at. Once they lower their guard then you get them to work for you instead of against you - thats when you extract a few of their organs. If they empathize with you - you got em.

It works almost every time for me. A few years back I called HP about a printer that was grabbing too much paper. It was a known flaw and I got them to give me a 300 dollar credit on a machine that had cost me 450 3 years prior. I went into Office Max and bought a new printer that listed for 600, had a 150 HP rebate, a 50 rebate from office max and combined it with my credit. I walked out with a 600 dollar machine for 100 bucks. Then I bought a repair kit for the old printer for 5 bucks on ebay LOL!! Its all how you feed them the vinegar. You can try and force feed them or you can be super nice and just pour the glass, push it in front of them and they'll down it for you

If one of their reps has serviced the unit that many times someone has to have a record.
