Children are indeed precious. I love spending my life with them- with my own, and with the children of other people, but it makes me want to cry to see what's going on in American families. Rather than excluding people (like gays) from marriage, we ought to be beating people over the head for divorcing, and causing horrendous extended family messes, which can be ugly, and very destructive for the children involved. It's not like this is a problem for the poor- this is a problem which crosses social strata, affects people of all religions, all parties, and all colors. I find it all very annoying.
