Indeed the CEF is different than the ETF. For those who fear U.S. confiscation of gold the ETF in particular, gold was not confiscated in Canada along with the U.S. in 1933. as far as conspiracies, getting the ETF's gold would be quite a slick maneuver.

I do not believe the U.S. could confiscate gold as it did 75 years ago, but if U.S.citizens were holding gold through CEF with that bullion allocated in a Canadian Bank I venture to think their holding would be safe from Uncle Sam.

Cheers,
Ogi

<i am not big on physical personally but like having a little, it's not so much about investment as about other qualities>

same here - I throw down a little physical ever month or so as savings - deep storage savings. It accumulates and grows in ounces....and value as the dollar depreciates. Much more difficult to sell on a whim.

Since summer, I haven't been happy with the markets and have done little with the miners. Been putting my monthly investment into cash, which, for me, is the real thang - physical. Been happy with my "cash account".
