Harris Stratex Networks Announces TL 9000 Certification; Companywide Effort Meets Increasing Customer Requirements for Compliance

Tuesday February 5, 1:00 pm ET

Harris Stratex one of only four microwave radio vendors to achieve this Quality certification

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSTX - News), the leading independent supplier of turnkey wireless transmission solutions, today announced that the company's Quality Management System has been certified as compliant with the Telecommunications Standard TL 9000. TL 9000 is a recognized standard in the telecommunications industry for Quality excellence and incorporates the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Compliance was audited and certified by Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC), a third party registrar.

Harris Stratex Networks was formed in January 2007 from the merger between the Microwave Communications Division (MCD) of Harris Corporation and Stratex Networks. Prior to the merger, both MCD and Stratex Networks had achieved individual third-party certifications for their quality processes. TL 9000 compliance was a top priority for the merged company, and certification was accomplished prior to Harris Stratex Networks' first year anniversary

"We were able to meet the TL 9000 requirements and complete certification rapidly because it was a company-wide objective supported by our executive team, with the commitment of every Harris Stratex department," said Steve Arling, vice president of Quality and Customer Satisfaction at Harris Stratex Networks. "This is a stringent, demanding process. We worked together to develop and maintain the Quality Management System for our new company, and we remain committed to the continuous improvement of our program." Harris Stratex Networks is one of only four microwave radio vendors to achieve TL 9000 certification.

TL 9000 defines standards for the design, development, production, installation and maintenance of telecommunications products, software, hardware or services. TL 9000 standardizes a comprehensive range of statistical measurements, such as mean time-between failure (MTBF), based on pre-defined metrics. Compliance is designed to optimize the quality and reliability of services delivered to users and increase supply chain efficiencies. TL 9000 also provides a basis for objective product and supplier evaluations, so service providers and suppliers can make fully informed decisions. "An increasing number of customers and users worldwide now make TL 9000 certification a requirement for all of their suppliers," said Arling.

Company performance metrics for TL 9000 standards compliance are reported monthly to the QuEST Forum, a 10-year-old consortium of companies that helps member organizations pursue telecommunications quality and performance excellence through the implementation of the TL 9000 standard. TL 9000 is a trademark of the QuEST Forum.

BVC was selected as Harris Stratex Networks' auditor in this process. BVC has certified more than 70,000 companies around the world and stresses the need for continuous improvement as well as adding value throughout the process.

Harris Stratex Networks Introduces Adaptive Modulation to Its Industry Leading Eclipse Carrier Ethernet Over Wireless Transport Solution

Wednesday February 13, 3:00 am ET

Solution offers simplest upgrade path

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSTX - News), the leading independent supplier of turnkey wireless transmission solutions, announced the introduction of Adaptive Modulation to its Eclipse(TM) Carrier Ethernet over Wireless(TM) transport solution at this year's Mobile World Congress, taking place at the Fira de Barcelona, Spain from February 11-14.

Eclipse was the first microwave radio platform to support advanced nodal networking, with Super-PDH(TM) and software-defined capacity migration. Eclipse provides access and aggregation solutions for backhaul of TDM, Ethernet only, and mixed TDM Ethernet traffic. It offers the highest aggregate of TDM and Ethernet transport in a single solution. The addition of Adaptive Modulation is an efficient way to support increased future bandwidth requirements in backhaul networks, while preserving limited available frequency spectrum and re-using previously installed equipment. Eclipse will now enable Adaptive Modulation links to be deployed to support both TDM and Carrier Ethernet traffic, with hitless multi-modulation switching that adapts to changing link conditions to ensure carrier-class performance for high priority traffic over longer distances and/or with smaller antennas.

"The Eclipse platform allows us to add significant innovations but with a practical implementation approach," said Paul Kennard, chief technology officer and vice president, International Sales, Harris Stratex Networks. "Making the complex problem as simple as possible is a request we often hear from our customers and modifying existing network elements as opposed to adding more boxes or making wholesale changes is by far the best approach."

At the show, Harris Stratex Networks' chief technical officer and vice president, International Sales, Paul Kennard, will join with other leading industry figures in a panel discussion to present the case for how Carrier Ethernet over Wireless transport is the key solution for mobile network evolution. The panel takes place on Wednesday, February 13, 11:40 to 13:10 in the (EN) Enablers stream.

Harris Stratex Networks provides complete network solutions designed for mobile and fixed wireless service providers and private networks. These solutions include microwave radios for access and trunking applications, carrier-grade Ethernet transmission systems, network management software, and turnkey field services that include network planning, engineering and implementation. Information will be available at the show on Harris Stratex Networks' comprehensive range of wireless transmission products, services and solutions.

Harris Stratex Networks will be exhibiting in Hall 2-0, booth 2F27.
