Oh, does that bring up a long argument that really is off topic for this thread. 1. Relative merits of breastfeeding and bottle feeding set against the continuing degree to which the value of work at home is devalued. 2. A debate about the bonding issue--whether the sheer fact of giving birth is the necessary basis of bonding. Or if the kind of bonding that good fathers have with their children is qualitative different and/or less than the bonding of good mothers. I don't think so. But it is a long discussion, not at all on topic on a thread on politics. Even as broadly as we all range. 3. What social changes can maintain/sustain and even advance gender equality. And on and on. I gather from your posts, you have thought long and hard about this. I have so as well. But we should sit down some time and go over all this when we can take each issue and run it down and see more precisely where we agree and disagree and then discuss that.
