The economy is not growing fast enough to produce jobs. That's how recessions start.

The preliminary estimate for Q4 was 0.6% but these numbers get revised. It may well be that the economy shrunk a little in Q4.

The thing about a recession is you don't officially know you were in one till you've been in it for a while, sometimes it's over before you get official word from BEA.

That may be okay for historians and Bush apologists, but investors, economists and policy makers have to be a little more proactive than that.

There's a good chance we're in a recession right now and that's a fact.
