Fair enough analogy I suppose. Making the decisions on the spot is much harder then being a safety expert with the full knowledge of hindsight I agree. The point is though, what were the reasons to launch in the face of the known risks, and the faulty decision making process used ? Similarly, we also live on the spaceship called "mother earth". If we screw it up, the only "back up" spacecraft we have got is Mars, and that doesn't look too promising for human occupation just yet. What is the decision making process the denialists use for rejecting the overwhelming evidence that we are damaging the environment, and that we should do more to preserve it?
