I was just enrolled in Medicare so I've been reading the literature. I got thinking about it in the context of the proposal to expand Medicare to everyone and the discussion about "gold-plated" vs "bare-bones" programs. I was surprised to find that Medicare's screening program is sparse. They will pay for cholesterol testing every five years and for one physical, within six month of enlistment. I was surprised. I don't think many people would be satisfied with that.
