My opinions and my hopes for a different foreign policy direction are based on what I read. We probably don't read the same things.

To better understand Iran, you could, if you wanted, start with a simple historical timeline of events from Wikipedia or some similar source. Something without an interpretation of the events that unfolded....just the events themselves.

As for your accusations against Democrats past behavior, I might agree somewhat with you. I'm focused on now and what needs to happen going forward. I think Dale was correct by pointing out the range of solutions that would move us toward energy independence. And most of them would require bipartisan support and oxeing the gore of some special interest groups.

Some of the alternative energy developments in Europe can show us what can be done when there's political will and public consensus.

My beef is that the Bush administration has done absolutely nothing. He's controlled the whole show...Congress and everything....but where are the proposals?

There's great technology out there being developed by foreign companies and creating jobs for foreign workers. You might want to read up on Sasol in South Africa or any of the solar energy companies in China and Europe.

I'm sure you and I could agree that we want American technology and American jobs to be part of the transition away from oil.
