Holy thistle, Cnicus Benedictus, is not sylimarin. Holy Thistle is an OPC contributor and is good for the arteries and is anti-stroke.

Sylimarin is milk Thistle. Silybum Adans - Different.

Milk Thistle

Silymarin is a polyphenolic flavonoid derived from milk thistle. Silymarin consists of three phytochemicals: silybin, silidianin and silicristin. Silybin is the most active phytochemicals and is largely responsible for the claimed benefits of silymarin.

Holy Thistle or Blessed Thistle

There is real confusion as there is a name, "Blessed Milk Thistle" by which is meant Sylimarin, also known as Chardon de Marie. This plant is in fact Milk Thistle.

Blessed Thistle is something different.

Milk Thistle (for liver - but benefits many other thing, including cancer.)

Blessed Thistle (for digestion and arteries..)
