I did not say that real estate nationwwide is worthless -- what I said is that much of the real estate being sold at firesale prices could be worthless. As for San Fran and Hawaii -- very different markets - they each have their own strange way of levitating. Hawaii is an international real estate market - as is San Francisco to a lesser degree. Run-down houses in bad areas of most US cities are not exactly in the same league. Personally, I would not expect any market in real estate to keep pace with inflation for the next 5 years.
