I much prefer the term liberal than progressive. I have always liked being a liberal even when the GOP said it was a bad thing. <g> How come there are so many liberals who call themselves "progressives" these days? Are they afraid of facing the reasons why the word "liberal" has such a negative connotation? (Besides, of course, blaming Republicans ...) It shouldn't -- even Jonah Goldberg (who wrote Liberal Fascism) says he's a "classical liberal." It really was the Republicans who made it a dirty word; it was purposely orchestrated. But I think the stigma really is wearing off
