We still manufacture all our weapons, at least for now. It seems like THOSE are the only things the government has seen fit to hold on to and protect the production of. No "free market forces" allowed THERE!

I don't know what the answer is. All places with expensive labor have the same problem, and thinking of it from a totally detatched perspective, why should WE get the semi-skilled labor job when a mud-hutter will jump for joy to do it much cheaper?

I'd like to see us get away from a consumption-driven economy. Something that could replace it might be something like our drive to get to the moon. Get out into space in a real, permanent, ever -driving outward manner. Here on earth, get away from burning stuff for energy and replace it with sustainable production. Do whatever it takes.
