As we have seen with Bush, bashing the crap out of your political opponents then inviting them to fall in line behind you in the spirit of "bipartisanship" goes nowhere.

Well, it did get us into Iraq.

But in general I agree. Such things as energy policy, global warming and health care will not be easy issues to address.

<<<We need a coalition builder to get things done the next eight years. >>>

The intellectually challenged Ronald Regan got all the credit for building the Republican coalition, but the real architects were Bill Buckley, Newt Gingrich, and the RW foot soldiers that laid the ground work. You could actually say that it was Ronald Regan that screwed up their plans for a permanent majority.

Now that Bush has really screwed up, there is a real opportunity to right this ship. But that is not going to happen with this "me generation" need for a feel good moment. There has to be ground work that has to be laid. There has to be a longer term vision.

Barack is not there yet. He needs time. Let him mature. Let him be tested.
