slacker;

We will never move back to anything remotely similar to our current system,

Talk to anyone working in the health care industry and they will tell you it is broken now. Have you been involved in any major need of health insurance lately? It has become a joke.

There will be many unintended consequences to having heavy government involvement in such a huge portion of our GDP

Yes, but since we need something and since we are going to get something the question we should all be asking is what kind of health care system do we want. This is a debate that Americans should be asking and to be afraid of something new will mean you are left out of the debate. Slacker, you obviously have a lot of good ideas and clear perspective of what could happen if the right and independents don't get involved. You need to be a part of the answer.

Another reason I like Obama in that he has the ability to see the big picture and hopefully would address some of your concerns. I think with Hillary we get a big mangy very expensive government control health care. Look out for that.
