What the heck are you TALKING about?

Re: "but it doesn't change the facts..."

Sure... but, WHAT 'facts' are you talking about? :-)

"... if you thought it was okay for sadam insane to kept his role as ruthless dictator to try to take over the entire middle east and hold the West hostage, then that's your choice..."

That is a BOGUS 'Straw Man' argument, since it expresses something that I've never been identified with!

A) I publicly supported the invasion here, (because I regarded Saddam as 'low hanging fruit' in the Neo-Con 'change the Middle East game') --- but I wrote that we SHOULD have acted to remove him at least TWICE earlier in history... and that this point-in-time we were choosing to toss him was far more expensive and problematic then either of the other two times would have been!

B) Specifically: I said that Reagan/Bush should have *never* bailed Saddam's ass out of his losing war with Iran in the 1980s... because if we had not pulled that bone-headed move we --- today --- most likely would not have EITHER the Theocrats of Iran, or Saddam's Dictatorship around to deal with! I said THAT was the optimal time to see him fall, and it would have been the EASIEST! All we had to do was sit on out hands!

C) Next, I said that Desert Storm should have not been halted by Bush I two days out from the capital. Saddam would have fallen then (and that would have been the second best time to toss him....)

D) As for this most recent Iraq War, like I say above, I came out for it on the Bush thread... but said that it was a more difficult decision then the other two times, because I expected the final cost to America to be "about 1/2 Trillion dollars", and that was a VERY COSTLY TAB. (I am sad to see that I underestimated the costs....)

Re: "I can only say I'm very glad he was removed from the planet..."

Well, OK, GZ... but you may be arriving a bit late to the party... I've been calling for his end since the mid nineteen eighties at least....
