During Australia's first strategic dialogue with China on Feb. 5, Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith gave support to China's hard-line stance against Taiwan's bid for independence while Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd entertained the idea of selling a sizable chunk of one of its national mining champions to China.
