ASA can put up to 20-25% (I forget the exact number) into bullion, although I don't know what they have in bullion right now. I just think that as soon as I put money in gold that it drops through the floor.

I like NYT when it drops again (as one of my weird hedge positions), although I realize most people don't. Their numbers are still pretty good, they still have their name (albeit tarnished), and if the US does go down the tubes someone will come in and buy them.

Oh yeah, my mom (who again, is an economist and despite that is not a complete moron) agreed to buy some SDS, the ultrashort S&P. She probably took a 1% position, though.

Hmm, gotta go work for 15 minutes or so.

My mom bought a position in SDS worth .7% of her portfolio(uggh), which to her credit is made up of fairly defensive stocks. I made her buy a bit more, even if she might be a bit late. I think the market is going down a bit more in the near term, although who knows for sure how much, when, etc.
