Taxes based on consumption always has been a great idea IMO.
Now that is a probleds with most dems.
That said, didn't Pelosi just say, that 1 million $$$ tax relief creates 1.6 million $$$ economy growth???

mindmeld,

So do I, but we can afford more taxes. But here's the point. maybe we should move to Huckabee's fair tax based on consumption? that might be a better for everyone.

BTW, I am all for consumption based taxation.

In the long run which nation will do better, one that taxes production or one that taxes consumption.

The current problems in the US are because encourage consumption and discourage production. The answer when recession looms? Encourage more consumption...

The poor and middle class consume more per dollar they earn... that would be a regressive tax.
