That is not much of a reputation. Obviously, if you compare him with 16th most liberal senator (Hillary) in 2007, he is going to be only a slightly more liberal. But that is a long way from being a centrist. That would mean being somewhere between 30 and 70. So he is by no mean a centrist, he is on far left.

However, one could make a case for Hillary as a centrist. In 2 of her Senate years, her liberal ratings was 32 and 34.
