I would gladly support a big tax on oil. But to sell it, simply reduce income taxes by an equivalent amount. But, you would need a president with some guts and half a brain, so that might be asking too much. FWIW, I have thought along those lines as well. Message 22089611 I just wonder if any gas tax, even if the proceeds are redistributed, can ever be politically viable. Believe me, if I see a politician with the guts to reframe the entire issue, I'll let you know....but it will probably be a very long wait :-(. Slacker
