"As the Bush administration winds down, neoconservatism has become the most feared and reviled intellectual movement in American history."

If the neocons make a hash of foreign policy by 2011, perhaps the familiar cycle of public scorn and rebirth might even start all over again.

Now there's a guy trying to hype his book. ;-)

1 The neocons are chastened liberals who turned right.

That's not exactly a myth, some of them where liberals, more generally they where "on the left", and I don't think they or people describing them go around saying "they where all liberal democrats, not socialists or communists here...", so I'm not sure the idea was even pushed much (and if people aren't saying it than even if its false, I wouldn't call it a myth)

Also as Heilbrunn points out in the article "Kristol and his fellow travelers briefly embraced liberalism in the late 1940s."

As the Bush administration winds down, neoconservatism has become the most feared and reviled intellectual movement in American history

That might be a bit over the top. If it isn't over the top as a description of the reaction (and I think it is), than the reaction itself is over the top.

I guess I pretty much agree with the rest of it.
