I'm beginning to think that most 2nd and 3rd generation Asians think a lot like Northern Californian liberals, i.e. "enlightened intellectual progressives." Lots of similarities in thought processes with liberal Jews, if you pardon the implicit stereotype.

Now that you mention there are some strong similarities between at least some Asians and Jews. Both have a history involving commerce and both groups assimilate [when allowed] into the dominant more quickly than other ethnic groups. And both place a very high premium on education.

Today, up here, they were asking Asians why they were voting for Clinton. Some said it was because the Clintons represent the prosperity of the 1990s. However, one 4th generation Japanese said that Asians don't like change [like you said, they are conservative] and are more comfortable voting for a white person who is more typical of past leaders.

What amazes me is that we continue to have so many Asian emigrants in this country.
