What does seem to be so though is some rare geniuses can conjecture with no observatinal experimentation asthey depend fully on inner mind visualization to conjure a "truth". The astounding thing about Einstein, he over turned so much without experimention. As he stated regards his thought experiments on light, he went into deep ponderment where he formed a picture of himself flying side by side with a photon, and thru that contemplation started to have ideas about the nature of light. What we in these times, getting more and more from the event of Einstein, may not know, is that Einstein had to wait 14 years after the publication of his theories before he got his desire of world fame(which he, as i wrote, castigated himself severely for having such a vacuous, fear based ambition). If it wasn't for Arthur Eddington the Einstein event could have passed into history, forgotten. i copy and paste something i wrote awhile back. <<Einstein theories slipped quietly into the world in 1905, the world at large, that name Einstein meant nothing. It was because of Eddington that in perhapslessthan two weeks after Eddington had confirmed Einstein thoughts through an observation experiment, that within a week the name Einstein was the most famous name in the world . That did not happen until 14 years after 1905--14 years.>> Lord Martin Rees in confronting the immense mysteries that have come forth out of the new cosmology has said he has worry we have hit a wall, and we will be stuck until a Newton or an Einstein comes forward. Newton, when pursuing a mathematics of gravity noted in some letter somewhere, or diary, or whatever, that what he was doing in addressing the matter of Gravity was insane: (like he was saying in effect "they could lock me up in an Insane Asylum for what i am pursuing--like this is really WEIRD!:) Max
