"...Also that he lost 4-6 planes and one of his jets blew up on deck killing I think 110 guys..."

Not to support McCain, but I can't hold that against him. Getting shot down can't be blamed on him, IMO. And the fire on the carrier (Forestall?) was caused by an aircraft two or three planes away from him. He was damn lucky to have escaped from that when the bombs started cooking off.

I don't know how many of you have known or been around any of the released Vietnam POWs. I've been around several, and they're mostly the same: a bit "off" mentally. Can't blame any of them, captivity and torture for an extended period wreaks its toll on a person's mind. But the ones I'm aware of, when they returned to active duty, usually ended up in positions where they didn't have much impact on the people who worked for them.

Now that is also a dishonest slam. I don't like McCain but using dirty tricks against a master at them is not right. He was a victim of a accidental rocket missfire from another plane sitting on the deck of a carrier, the rocket launched from that plane to one sitting right next to his. The burning jet fuel from that plane went under his and others and he almost did not make it out of his plane alive. The blaze caused his onboard munitions to explode as well as on other aircraft. This ruined about 5 aircraft, equipment, munitions, and I guess killed a fair number of people. It was not McCain's fault, but some grunt or malfunctioning munitions.
