New York is more liberal than the country as a whole, at least New York City is, and its pretty hard to win if you can't pick up support in a city that has over 8 million out of about 19 million people in the state (and I suspect a larger percentage of its voters, I'm not sure about that, but I think the city might be more political than upstate, and also children probably represent a smaller percentage of its population than the rest of the state).

None of which is to say that Hillary can't win. She would be a tough candidate to beat, she has a lot of support. But her success in New York is really solid evidence that she can overcome her negatives.
