Cost US$ 200 million, 'Water Cube’ Aquatic Centre for Bejing 2008

Construction for the National Aquatic Centre in Beijing being in December 2003 for it to be ready in time for the Olympics.

The ‘Water Cube’ is finally finished and it looks wonderful, it is a rectangular shaped building constructed from steel and there is a a membrane of blue bubbles which light up.

It consist of 100,000 sqm of ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene) which is a unique plastic that is capable of absorbing solar radiation and will reduce thermal loss. This is the world’s largest and most complex building that has been constructed from ETFE.
