And last I checked "normal reporters" don't build houses, have contractors licenses, or develop land. They write articles. Lots of them. With catchy headlines and quotes.

What I do know from the small business owners in the house building business is that the banks are the roadblocks right now. Financing is tough to find for small spec builders. Demand is there at certain price levels, but they can't compete without capital. And they really don't want to compete when the big national builders are dumping inventory and subsidizing interest rate buydowns.

assuming they dont lose their job and cant pay their mortgage. I guess thats the fear out there that a recession will eventually cause higher unemployemnt and then we get prime mortgage crisis, auto collapse, credit card collapse. I am not a socialist. I was just joking however if this is what the fed sees, further actions are necessary if only to assuage markets because if the above occurs stocks cant go up either.
