Knowing Clemens' character and knowing that other people like Radomski knew what was going on, I think it was smart of Mcnamee to keep the evidence. He wasn't worried about Clemens initially coming forward himself but others were involved and even a dumb cop can imagine all the permutations and take some precautions to protect both freedom and reputation.

Injecting HGH is no harder than insulin for a diabetic, much easier than injecting testosterone, I don't think that Mcnamee injected Clemens each time he did it, I think most players do it themselves.

Your point that they didn't bulk up like Bonds, who was obviously taking huge testosterone doses in addition to HGH, does not change the fact that they cheated. Regaining your best form and dealing with chronic injury/soreness is a problem every player faces, so how could you say it wasn't cheating when they were trying to do it to overcome a hurdle that their peers would have a harder time doing without the drugs?

I'm not even anti-steroids, but I don't buy their story of doing it once or twice nor that they weren't technically cheating because they were doing it for injury recovery. Every pitcher injures himself at each outing on the cellular level, that's why they need 4 or 5 days between starts. Taking drugs that aid in recovery is cheating
