@Bob - PCM
I could only agree. As others have already showed at the
ISSCC, they gave relative good detailled informations about
their designs, e.g. cell size, node, mm^2 as the main
objectives. What did we heard from Intel/STM? Nearly nothing.
To say it politely, when you have something new and big on
your hand, I would guess, that you want to show this around.
Seems like this isn't the case here. So, what does this tell
me. Floating gate which Intel/STM are using is stalled, they
are doing some stuff at the 65nm, but nothing is known about
future nodes like 32/45nm. Seems like the path is still unknown.
On the other side they hope/hoped to get PCM into a stage,
where it could compete - doesn't seem the case, when we sum
up 1 and 1. So, no path behind 65nm. No 300mm in the pipe.
Market condition couldn't be much worse. PCM info are hard
to get - doesn't smell healthy. And Intel and STM want to
get rid of this the earlier the better and the market seems
not keen to buy this stuff. WHAT DOES THIS TELL US?
