"I am a gun collector. When I buy or sell a gun, I regularly hear things like "I don't want nuthin' fancy. It just has to be able to kill a nigg--."

I rarely heard that sort of thing when I lived in California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Missouri, or Minnesota. "

I've heard it 1000s of times in PA, NY, Mass. Conn., ME. who are you fooling.

Funny when 3 blacks dragged 5 white kids out into a field and shoot them in the back of the head, it doesn't make the news.

My argument for racism being worse in states like Indiana or Montana (or at least in pockets there) is just that I remember visiting relatives in Montana and hearing about huge meetings of some white organization to discuss how to deal with the Indian problem. You could never do that in the south. Of course in Montana the populace is 97% white.

Where I grew up in the south(Eastern NC, fairly backwoods), you still had pseudo segregation and there is do doubt that at night you had to be careful where you hung out, black or white. In Eastern NC, most everyone loves their guns, either for huntin', protectin', scarin', robbin', etc.

California is a different world vs the US ex the West coast.

I think your buddy liked the Israelis because Israeli special forces do some sick stuff. He'd probably rail on Jews in the past and someone brought up the Israeli special forces doing this or that and he had to change his viewpoints. also, some jews who grow up in Israel have a hardness to them that you don't find in American Jews.

I live in a 1/2-Jewish neighborhood. I'll try to figure out some way to bring out the "Israeli special forces" side of them. Then we can build a wall around Sandy Springs.

Mikros ADEPT(R) Equipment Considered for Baseline in U.S. Navy Cruiser Modernization Program
Friday February 8, 3:46 pm ET

FORT WASHINGTON, Pa., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mikros Systems Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: MKRS - News) announced today that its ADEPT Radar Test Set equipment is a candidate for inclusion in the equipment baseline of the United States Navy AEGIS Cruiser (CG) and Destroyer (DDG) Modernization program.

The ADEPT system, developed by Mikros under the Navy's Small Business Innovation Research program, has been extensively tested by the Navy on land and at sea, and has proven to be an invaluable tool in maintaining the most advanced shipboard radar systems. ADEPT has been designed to assure optimum radar performance, improve readiness and reduce equipment down time. Improvements to the mission effectiveness of the AEGIS fleet are particularly timely as these ships will support the Navy's Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) capability.

In 2007 the Navy ordered ten units of the new lightweight ADEPT model. The Navy recently obtained 2008 funding for additional systems. Up to 84 ships are eligible to be equipped with multiple ADEPT units per ship to test and align the AN/SPY-1 phased array radar.

"This product began as a tool to enhance the readiness of the SPY-1 radar, but it is developing into a much broader set of applications," said Tom Meaney, President of Mikros.

Development work is underway to apply the ADEPT system to other shipboard systems beyond the SPY-1 radar, which could further enhance readiness. ADEPT distance support capabilities will allow remotely-located subject matter experts to perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities, potentially providing significant maintenance cost savings to the fleet.

Mikros is also currently pursuing other ADEPT market opportunities, including aircraft carriers, amphibious ships, submarines, and the allied fleets.

Though I once worked in the north with a guy who referred to American Jews as "the enemy." Not Israelis, whom he liked. A lot. I never understood his warped logic on that one.

My somewhat informed opinion of American Jews is this: they are mostly bleeding heart liberals who would not support Israeli sovereignty at any cost, not realizing that sooner or later that could be Jews' only refuge when it becomes fashionable for parts of the world to kill Jews again. They also do stupid stuff like being one of the largest contributors to the NAACP while most blacks hate Jews.

I'm of Russian-Jewish descent by the way and don't have have feelings for either group, other than understanding that when it comes time to pick teams again you better know who your team is and until then better to make sure your team still has a home field.

Now when a chimp is running the show and happens to be on the side that will protect Israel, it makes things difficult but still need to see the forest through the trees and understand the long term picture.
