Costs a lot of money for that US passport and its benefits you are carrying.

Every major country in the world has the same claim on its citizens who do not live in the country, yet only the US taxes those who live abroad.

If you don't give overseas Americans some tax break, no Americans will live overseas. They'd have to pay both the taxes of their resident country and US taxes. Sorry, that makes little sense.

What are your benefits of being a US citizen?

This is a different question. Where I live the difference in terms of benefits between being US, UK, Canada, Australian or any major English speaking nation are pretty close to nil.
