I've posted a number of times that creationists have made significant contributions in many branches of science. Unfortunately it does become a very major issue when people seek to affect the direction or funding for science in our country when they not only don't know much about it, but in fact are also wedded to idiocy.

What creationism or evolution denying does show, is that on any given topic, the individual is able to completely ignore evidence, and believe nonsense, for some strange reason. That is certainly worth keeping in mind when evaluating their views on any other topic as well.

What is even more significant is that examination of the methods people use to cling to such views is quite common across a wide range of topics, from denying evolution to denying AGW. That is what I find both interesting and useful to know. If your BS filter can works on one field, it generally will work quite well in another. Just look for the common methods they use. Conversely, if you BS filter is screwing up in one field, it will most likely screw up in other fields as well. Also worth knowing.
