imho, you all are whistling right past the white elephant in the middle of the room - both parties have screwed over america for personal gain. the mo is to get the people fighting for their "team" while they and theirs loot the treasury - they all do it. they've all bankrupted our grandkids before they are even born. the republicrats, suck and the demicans suck - money from the taxpayers. i have no comment on bush and his cronies as no comment is even required since most republicrats hate his guts by now. as for the democrats, just look what they've done to california - does anyone really think willie brown gave one dmn about anyone but his own lifestyle and power? they lied to the people fo california when they said the lottery money would go to schools, but failed to mention that money from other sources would be taken away from schools so they could have more pet projects. both republicrats and demicans lied this past election - proposition 93 would allow over people to EXTEND THEIR TERMS UP TO 8 YEARS and they only sold it as "reducing term limits." our republicrat governor, who ran on the platform of kicking out the cronies who wrecked this state, all but groveled with the electorate to get this bill passed SO THE CRONIES COULD STAY IN POWER! if it makes you feel good to think either group is working for you*, though, i guess it helps you guys get by. the truth is that humans lack the character required to rule in a just way - which is why human history is so screwed up on the whole. having said that, this is knighty's thread, you know his politics, so let it go. nobody wants to hear your opinion on investing or you'd have a thread. while i don't agree with knighty on some issues, i do find him very smart, witty and entertaining - not to mention i think he left smith barney with some of my money and i want it back! ;-) you are wasting everyone's time here, including your own.
