Lazarus, humanity can't govern itself for the simple reason that caring for others equal to oneself is a pre-requisite to good governance. jesus said this 2000 years ago and also said humanity would never be able to do it without his direct intervention at his second coming. so far, he's right and i don't see anything around me that indicates anything new will come up in the future. as an aside, i was reading slashdot and a person made an excellent point - now that bush has sacked the constitution in the name of self defense, rogue people will now want the presidency more than ever - so they can use all the tools in place for nefarious purposes. of course, they will need to be a narcissistic sociopath with a personality to pull this off. it has happened before.
