the current system is broken because the politicians are fighting over who gets a free pass based upon how they vote

Yes, national sales tax + state sales tax (how many states could keep income taxes if the feds ditched it?) + employment tax would be 30-40% the bottom wage earner's first dollar and all the rest of their dollars as well. It would be 0% of many people's $100K + 1 dollar that goes into investments. Currently IRA's already offer that distortion, but at least they are capped and somewhat restricted.

I'm all in favor of simpler tax systems, but mainly I would focus on equalizing all the scams in the current system.

Tell me what the exemptions would be.

I like a flat tax...starting at say $30k w/no deductions.
