The public companies I have worked for used investment bankers for their buy-back programs and IMHO they got hosed every time. The problem is - how do you run an extensive buy-back program yourself without the community knowing your moves and sticking you?

<<<I would find it very hard to believe that the avg repurchase price would be anything over $18!>>>

I'm sticking to $18.44

Do you suppose the great managers of 6 cent option exercises will substantially raise the dividend or have come up with a working plan on how to use the Billions in cash to maximize shareholder value?

Do you suppose the solar moneypit actually does something this quarter?

Do you suppose shares outstanding actually go down, indicating the buyback isn't just a poorly disguised giftbag of option perks to the pigs at the through?

Can AMAT management deliver? Or is it just more of the same continual failure to generate shareholder value?

600 Million of buyback per cash flow statement. No mention of it, or price paid, or exact number of shares in the written press release.

Must have to wait for the 10Q barring some disclosure on the CC.

I guess they beat earnings.

$17.65 average price paid. Not bad.
