In Detroit he could have a vintage mansion with custom walnut panelling!

For a while there they were talking about turning large parts of Detroit back into farm land. They would at least get some tax revenues.

Ever been to Gary, Indiana? Wow... talk about blighted.

think the government should give really strong incentives to companies that will locate or re-locate there.

When I was working in SV, my CEO lived in a modest ranch house in Palo Alto, more modest than my parent's house. But, in the mid-nineties, it was worth half a millon. I told him if he moved the company to Austin, he could have a nicer house on a lake with a dock and a powerboat for the same money, and engineers like me could buy houses too. Provincially not at all interested.


Did he move to Austin? I didn't think so. Its a problem. Some companies are willing to move to the interior but they are far and few in between. And they mostly move to TX.
