One of Walmarts largest advantages for years was spending considerably more on lighting than most other stores. They installed lights that rendered colors much more accurately than most stores. As a result people would go there and compare exactly the same blouse at Walmart for 1/3 off what the dreary local store would be charging. It looked fresher and brighter and was less expensive. Slam dunk.

Like amy people, your perspective is slanted by what you read and hear. Targets more likely to have more expensive store fixtures, but the stores are not any brighter.
