currently listening to the CCRT conference call . despite the pro bashers at yahoo I am hearing some positive news. not surprisingly the stock is up in AH $11.50-$12.50. Sounds like normal earning before special write offs would have been in tne .40-.50 range. they said they were not seeing increase delinquencies in their customer base. also mentioned that they have bought $6 billion of bad credit card portfolios in the past and may partner with others to purchase more such portfolios when the time is appropriate. They decided to close a bunch of micro-loan centers that hadnt been producing good rates of return and exited some motorcycle and off terrain financing business as well which accounted for most of special charges. meanwhile the company continues to sell at asignificant discount to book. Seems like this company will probably earn $1.60 in bad times and $4+ in good times with limited growth. I will continue to hold my overweight here, as I like the management. I also like the fact that they repurchased 2 million shares during the quarter. on the con side there is still no securitization in the credit markets and like one of the callers I was surprised that they did not make an earlier announcement about the closing of 106 micro loan branches.
