You realize, of course, that the largest portions of US drug purchases are by senior citizens who are covered by Medicare plans, ie socialized medicine.

But there is the non socialized part of the market, and also the socialized part pays more for the drugs in many cases than European socialist systems do. Also until recently Medicare didn't typically cover drugs. So if there is a negative effect on research it would be developing now, not something we would already easily recognize.

As for the other points they mostly seem to be the same one's I've already replied to in response to the claims of Donald W Light and Joel Lexchin, linked to by someone else on this thread -
