Thanks for finding a working link. I guess links don't live forever.

Anyway, the insanity of the EC position is they don't care about legality of actions. they just abhor success. At no time did anyone report Neelie Kores to say, "if a company acquires a large share, they better make sure their actions are all within the rules". The only evidence she needs is a simple counting of share.

As to what prompted the newest raids, I guess AMD is still whining about losing more market share, which Neelie takes as a call to action.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Europe's top competition regulator said on Monday she wanted to see a significant drop in the market share of Microsoft after the U.S. software giant lost an appeal against an EU antitrust ruling.

"A market level of much less than 95 percent would be a way of measuring success," European Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes told a news conference, referring to the market share of Microsoft's Windows operating system.

"You can't draw a line and say exactly 50 (percent) is correct, but a significant drop in market share is what we would like to see," she said.
