Don't laugh so loud. That was her spokesman talking after people pointed out what a moron the boss was. So the spokesman realized that she had made an idiot of herself, and he jumped in. Because clearly what she said had no support in the law, the spokesman had to provide spin.

I'm surprised you didn't see that. is it less than glaring obvious ?
