I've been pondering the behavior, myself, and conjuring up explanations. Yours is not one that occurred to me. I think it has a lot of merit.

I don't think you can just blame conservatives. People don't want Hillary either. People really do seem to want something, anything, different.

It's hard to tell if Obama really would be different- but partly because he is not an entrenched insider he could be. Hillary and McCain just can't claim to be bringing anything new to the party, since they've been at the party so long. They're both yesterday's news.

Doesn't mean Obama will be new and different, but at least he might be. I think most of us know McCain and Hillary will be same old same old.
