It's definitely going to be an interesting one to watch. I've watched a couple of companies do an RS for this purpose before, both with success. Imperial Industries did it back in 2005 to get a NASD listing. They announced they were going to seek shareholder approval for it in October of 2004, and got approval in December, 2004. The split took place on March 23, 2005. A link to the chart is below.

I had expected the stock to go on a downtrend when the split was announced and then also as the split approached, but that didn't happen (other than some volatility). It actually was higher at the time of the split than when the split was announced. And after that, it was off to the races. Unfortunately it got caught in the housing market bust, but the RS did what it was supposed to and the NASDAQ listing got the stock a wider audience.
