Definitely one of our favourite areas..

If you end up in Edmonton, then head west to Jasper (about 4 hours by car), driving down to Banff on Icefields Parkway (expect all day with stops), with Lake Louise, Bow Lake, Moraine Lake etc. Couple of days in Banff and then finally head towards Waterton Glacier Park which straddles Canadian and US borders.. Driving thru the US side during summer is worth your time.. and don't leave home without a camera for this jaunt..

By the way Lake Louise is the famous site near Banff and you cannot avoid it (every tourist has to stop there) but I really like Moraine Lake.. Check this out for photos.. Specially the guest photo gallery..
