All the people who can't afford fancy child care or elderly home care would love to have some nice young college grad helping out a few hours a week. Also zillions of things to do around our towns and cities as Suma noted.

Having people give something back is a good principle to reinforce as we spend more public money.

This was just off the top of my head. But there are hundreds of ways that the loans could be paid back.. It takes imagination and spirit.There were many who didn't think the Peace Corp would work.
