Condi for VP? I'm not so sure about that.

Condi has good qualities.

However, she does not meet the most critical quality of a VP - "First, do no harm".

The VP choice is not important to a winning ticket. What is important is to prevent the choice from harming the ticket.

Condi has too much baggage.

The democrat candidate will not be running against McCain. They will try to run against Bush. That is what Jimmy Carter did against Ford. Carter did not run against Ford, he ran against Nixon. Nixon was easy to beat since he resigned in disgrace earlier.

The Democrat candidate will do the same. They will put it in people minds that a vote for McCain is like a vote for Bush.

With Condi as VP candidate, that argument would stick much too easily. She would do harm to the ticket, so she would be a bad idea for VP.

I still think that Condi would bring much to the ticket. She would make Obama look like the light weight he really is.

And Bush is not hated as much as you might think--except by the far out crowd of radical democrats and fellow travelers.

I think that Bush will play a strong hand in the coming campaign and McCain will not run away from Bush's support.
